The final moments of the NY Islanders' 3-1 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks were a scary ending for Bo Horvat. After releasing the puck towards an empty net, Horvat took a hit to the head from Frank Nazar, causing a melee between the two sides.

Nazar has been suspended for two games for his actions. Fortunately, Horvat is no worse for wear and will be suiting up for the Islanders tonight, as they host the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Logan Stanley was incensed after the hit, receiving a misconduct penalty, while JG Pageau held Tyler Bertuzzi to the ice as the team came to the defense of their captain.

“I think that’s kind of the brotherhood we have in here and the type of guys we have in here,” Horvat said following today’s morning skate. “I appreciate that from our group coming in there for me, but it felt even better to get the win.”

Horvat has been off to a red-hot start to the season, scoring four times and adding an assist in the team's first four games.  With a hit to the head, there was a fear that Horvat could miss some time, but he feels all right and will look to add to the Islanders’ solid start at home.

“Hits like those, you never know,” Horvat said. “Anytime the principal point of contact is the head, it’s scary. But I feel fine. The right side of my face hurts a little bit, but other than that, I’m good.”
