Voting is open for the NY Islanders’ third jersey for the 2026-27 season, and it’s safe to say that the majority of fans on social media are not happy with the organization’s final eight choices.
In the bracket-style competition that will determine the winner, two jerseys pinned against one another are "Fish Stick" jerseys. The Fish Stick replaced the Islanders' traditional logo in 1995, with vitriol coming from the fan base as the organization looked to rebrand.
While some younger members of the fan base view the logo as nostalgic, those who lived during the dynasty days see it as a symbol of the worst years for the organization.
For those supportive of the other New York team, the Fish Sticks provide comic relief, showing how far the organization fell in the 12 years since winning its most recent Stanley Cup.

Boomer Esiason, host of Boomer and Gio in the Morning and Father-in-law to Matt Martin, is a notable Rangers fan and says he is hoping to see the Islanders in the Fish Sticks once again.
"They have a Fish Stick jersey as one of the final eight," Esiason said this morning on WFAN. "Actually, there are two of them. One is in dark blue, and the other one is in orange and looks like it's a rip-off of the Edmonton Oilers. But yeah, I want the Fish Stick jersey... I cannot believe they actually made Fish Sticks make the final eight. I'd love to see Matthew Schaefer running around in a Fish Stick jersey. That would be awesome."
This was all said while letting out his laughter throughout.
The fans will make the final decision on the jersey, and regardless of whether it's Fish Sticks or one of the other finalists, some will be happy, some will be angry. But fans of other organizations are looking to have their say in the voting.
