Boston Bruins Assistant GM Evan Gold may be joining the NY Islanders organization

Though the additions to the NY Islanders roster may be complete, that doesn't mean the organization is finished adding valuable pieces within.

Mark Divver of NHL.com, through his X account, posted that he believes Evan Gold, who has been with the Boston Bruins since 2015, could find his next landing spot on Long Island.

Serving as the Director of Hockey Operations from 2015-2019, Gold was promoted to Assistant General Manager from 2019-2023. Following the 2022-23 season, he remained in his role as Assistant GM and took over the role of General Manager of the Providence Bruins of the AHL.

With multiple changes within the Bruins organization, Boston will let Gold walk when his contract officially expires on August 1.

Gol has been a sought-after addition for multiple GM positions around the league, as he was a finalist for the role with the Vancouver Canucks and the Toronto Maple Leafs before the two organizations elected to go with a different candidate.

In his role as GM in Providence last season, Gold led the Providence Bruins to one of the best seasons in league history, totaling 110 points in 72 games. But like the Boston Bruins in 2022-23, who set the record for most points in a season, Providence was upset in the first round of the Calder Cup Playoffs, losing to the Springfield Thunderbirds 3-1 in a best-of-5 series.

If Gold were to join the Islanders organization, it's unclear exactly what type of role he would fill. The Isles currently have three Assistant General Managers: Ryan Bowness, Chris Lamoriello, and Steve Pellegrini.
