The New York Islanders weren't able to bring James Hagens home, but they were able to bring Parker Gahagen to Bridgeport. On Monday, the AHL affiliate of the Islanders announced that they have added veteran depth to their crease, signing the goaltender to an AHL contract ahead of the 2025–26 season.

Gahagen, 32, brings a wealth of experience to Bridgeport after a strong season with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. In 22 games last year, he posted an impressive 12-4-4 record with a 2.39 goals-against average, a .916 save percentage, and one shutout. He also contributed in the playoffs, appearing in five games and helping Lehigh Valley reach the Atlantic Division Semifinals.

A native of Amherst, NY, Gahagen has quietly built a solid AHL resume across six teams. He’s compiled a 24-16-7 record with a 2.67 GAA and .909 save percentage in 52 career AHL appearances, including stints with Milwaukee, Colorado, Toronto, and San Jose, in addition to Lehigh Valley.

He’s also made his mark in the ECHL, where he boasts a stellar 72-35-6 career record with a 2.33 GAA, .921 save percentage, and 11 shutouts across five teams. His consistent play and winning pedigree should provide valuable stability in front of Tristan Lennox and Henrik Tikkanen as Bridgeport prepares for a competitive AHL season under new head coach Rocky Thompson.

Before turning pro, Gahagen starred at Army West Point, earning AHA Second Team All-Conference honors twice. He finished his collegiate career with a 2.40 GAA and sparkling .926 save percentage in 106 games for the Black Knights and was nominated for the Hobey Baker Award. With Gahagen in the fold, the Bridgeport Islanders solidify their goaltending depth and gain a proven pro who can step in when called upon.
