It's been a miserable season for the Bridgeport Islanders, but it is also the year veteran forward Chris Terry etched his name into franchise history. With an assist in Wednesday night’s game against the Hartford Wolf Pack, Terry reached 204 career points with Bridgeport, becoming the franchise’s all-time leading scorer, surpassing the previous record held by Jeremy Colliton since 2012.

Colliton, who notched his final two points for the team on March 4, 2012, in Providence, sent Terry a congratulatory video message to mark the occasion.:

“I’m proud of it,” said Terry. “It’s obviously not something you start your hockey career ever setting out as a goal to reach. This is a great place to play and I’m fortunate being surrounded by great teammates, coaches, our staff, and the fans.”

Terry originally joined Bridgeport in 2021-22 and made an immediate impact, reaching the 30-goal mark that season for the fourth time in his AHL career. In 2022-23, he set single-season franchise records with 78 points and 51 assists. Terry returned to Bridgeport this past summer after captaining the Chicago Wolves during the 2023-24 season.

Terry turned 36 on Monday and has played 152 NHL games with the Carolina Hurricanes and Montreal Canadiens, including a career-high 68 with the Canes during the 2015-16 season. He scored 22 goals and 16 assists in the NHL. He's a five-time AHL All-Star and the league’s active leader in both goals and points. Throughout 881 career AHL games, he has tallied 806 points (330 goals, 476 assists), skating for Bridgeport, Chicago, Grand Rapids, Laval, St. John’s, Charlotte, and Albany. He currently ranks 11th in league history in goals, 12th in points, tied for 17th in assists, and 21st in games played.

"You don't play the game for milestones and records," Terry said after the game. "But I'm at a point in my career, and with the teams I've been on, it's pretty spectacular to have your name at the top of the list when you talk about a franchise that's been around this long. It's pretty special."
