What price are you willing to pay for a chance to witness NHL history?
Alexander Ovechkin is sitting at 889 career goals and needs five more to tie Wayne Gretzky's all-time goal-scoring record, and the Washington Capitals are visiting Long Island twice in the final weeks of the regular season. The New York Islanders host Ovi and the Caps on Sunday, Apr. 6th, and then again on Tuesday, Apr. 15th, at UBS Arena, affording Isles fans a unique opportunity to be part of a landmark moment in sports history.
As of Thursday night, there were still tickets selling in the upper bowl in the low $100s (including fees) on the secondary market sites, such as StubHub. That's tremendous value for a chance to see one of the greatest of all-time try to chase down "The Great One" while the home team tryies to chase down the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference for the right to likely face Ovechkin and the Capitals.
Plenty of reasonably priced tickets to see Ovechkin try to chase down or break Gretzky's record on Apr. 6 #Isles pic.twitter.com/eA8urOI7dO

Ovechkin’s pursuit of Gretzky’s all-time NHL goal record is one of the most exciting storylines in hockey history and is a national story for a sport that often struggles to capture national headlines. For Ovechkin, at age 39, to be closing in on Gretzky's legendary mark of 894, a record once considered untouchable, is a testament to his relentless scoring ability, durability, and passion.
He has 36 goals in 55 games, and would have already likely broken the record and completed the #TheGr8Chase if it wasn't for him suffering a fractured left fibula in a game against Utah on Nov. 18. The fact that he's been able to come back this fast and this strong is just another remarkable part of this incredible story of sustained greatness.
If you're an Islanders fan, there may never be another chance to witness history or the pursuit of history quite like this. Ovechkin has four more games before the Capitals visit Long Island. He'll be a hat trick away from tying the record if he scores two goals. As counterintuitive it may be to want to see hockey history happen and your team's expense, just being in the building is going to be a very unique and special experienace and one Islanders fans should jump on before it's too late.
