Brothers sharing the ice in the NHL have become more of a trend in recent years. Jack and Luke Hughes play together in New Jersey, Brady Tkachuk recently joined his brother Matthew in a blockbuster trade for the Florida Panthers, and over the weekend, twin brothers Liam and Marcus Ruck were both drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Danny Nelson, drafted by the NY Islanders in the second round in 2023, plays with his older brother Henry at Notre Dame, with Henry being invited to join Danny this year at Development Camp.

Both Nelsons enrolled at Notre Dame the same year, beginning tehir collegiate careers together. But now, they're taking their skills to another level, sharing the ice on Long Island with teh organization's top prospects.

"It's really cool being here with him (Danny)," Henry said after his second day of camp. "Coming out to Long Island, it's great people here, great camp. I'm really excited for teh rest of the week. It's been a blast so far. I'm excited to keep going."

Unlike Danny, Henry is a defenseman who had his best season in the NCAA during his junior campaign, scoring three goals and adding 10 assists.

"I think I'm a two-way defenseman," Henry said, describing his game. "Working up in the rush, but really working on that defensive side of the game, being harder in the corners. I'm working a lot with the coaches at Notre Dame just to have that edge."

Danny and Henry will have another sibling joining them at Notre Dame next season, as brother Sammy, one of teh 2027 NHL Draft's top prospects, will begin his freshman season.

"I never thought I'd be playing college hockey with Sammy," Danny said. "It'll be fun to have him come in, kind of teach him the ropes. He's been texting us about all his classes, so it'll be fun to just teach him the ways."
