We're one week into April, which means it's time for the playoffs across the hockey universe. While the NY Islanders are in a battle of their own for a spot in the NHL postseason, the organization's prospects around the world are in the midst of the playoffs themselves.
Here are how some of the Islanders' CHL prospects are fairing so far in the postseason.
Jacob Kvasnicka - Penticton Vees (WHL)
A seventh-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft that looks to have been quite the steal for the Islanders. After a stellar rookie season in the WHL, Penticton, in its first season as a WHL team, entered the playoffs as the second seed in the Western Conference and took out the Seattle Thunderbirds, 4-1, in the opening round. Kvasnicka registered five goals and four assists through five games, including a three-point night (2 G, 1A) in Game 5. The Vees will face the Prince George Cougars in the second round beginning Friday.
Luca Romano - Kitchener Rangers (OHL)
Though Aitcheson and Kvasnicka have gotten a lot of the hype among the Islanders' CHL prospects, Luca Romano is playing on the best team of them all, entering the playoffs as the top seed with the Kitchener Rangers. The Rangers had their way with the Saginaw Spirit in the first round, sweeping the opposition and advancing easily to the second round. Romano finished the series with a goal and an assist, but his goal was a massive one, coming in OT of Game 3. Kitchener takes their next step towards the OHL Finals, hosting the Soo Greyhounds for Game 1 Friday night.

Kashawn Aitcheson - Barrie Colts (OHL)
A first-round pick of the Islanders last summer, Kashawn Aitcheson is one of the Islanders' top prospects and has been playing like that throughout this season, carrying it into the postseason. Despite Aictheson being suspended for the first two games of the playoffs, Barrie handled the Niagara IceDogs convincingly, taking the series 4-1. Returning from suspension, Aitcheson scored once and added four assists in his three games played. He had a big night in Game 3, registering three helpers en route to a 9-6 win. The Colts will take on the Ottawa 67's in the second-round starting Thursday.
