The New York Islanders signed Cole Eiserman, the clubs 2024 1st round draft choice, to his entry level contract today.
Eiserman, 19, has played for Jay Pandolfo’s Boston University Terriers for the past two seasons. In his freshmen campaign, Eiserman tallied 25 goals and 11 assists in 39 games at BU as an 18-year-old. The 25 red lights were the first among all freshmen scorers and just five shy of rival BC’s Ryan Leonard who led the NCAA with an even 30.
After slipping a dozen plus spots in the draft, Eiserman had a terrific campaign in his post draft year helping lead his team all the way to the NCAA Championship game in which they fell to Western Michigan.
Cole returned to Boston for his sophomore season with high hopes. He was injured in a game against UCONN in late October that saw him miss a few weeks. He finished the season with another impressive statline: 18 goals and 10 assists in 32 games.
Unfortunately, BU did not have a postseason run in them this season, and Eiserman has now decided to forgo his junior season to turn professional.
Â
It was once expected for Eierman to be a top 5 pick, but his status diminished in his draft year. Scouts have raved about Eiserman’s release and scoring ability while his 200-foot game and skating ability have been critiqued. Something Jay Pandolfo has worked on with the young American.Â
It’s expected for Eiserman to join Rocky Thompson and the Bridgeport Islanders down the I-95 to finish up the season. He will be at Islanders camp in the fall.
