With the NHL season approaching certain Islanders are gaining attention when it comes to fantasy hockey.

NHL.com win projection: 30

Sorokin finished last season with a .904 save percentage despite ranking 10th among goalies in wins with 30. Sorokin also played 61 games last season. Sorokin is ranked as a fringe top 10 goalie in theNHL.com rankings. NHL.com has Sorokin at back to back 30 win seasons but I would like to take the over here.

Bo Horvat, F

NHL.com point projections: 65

Horvat led the Islanders with 28 goals and 29 assists for 57 points last season. He had 243 shots on goal in 81 games. The Islanders battled injuries last season and Horvat should find more consistency with his linemates this season.

Mathew Barzal, F

NHL point projections: 65

Barzal suffered multiple injuries last year which cut his season to a total of 30 games played. Barzal is an elite playmaker and can drive plays with his elite skating abilities. A healthy season for Barzal will be extremely beneficial for the Islanders and his linemates. Barzal will begin the season as the second line center but makes you wonder if he will rejoin Bo Horvat's wing this season.

Anders Lee, F

NHL.com point projections: 52

After a summer training with Adam Oates, Anders Lee had one of his best seasons yet. His skating and speed took a massive jump this past season. Lee tallied 29 goals and 25 assists and had a career high in shots with 233. Lee is projected to be in the top 6 in the lineup, which now includes a healthy Mat Barzal.

Matthew Schaefer, D

NHL.com point projection:40

Throughout the preseason Islanders fans have noticed that Schaefers skating ability is the real deal. As Patrick Roy said, to be able to play in the NHL you have to be able to defend. Schaefer has been paired with Scott Mayfield throughout the preseason and the pairing has looked extremely solid. Schaefer has played 20:39 minutes on the low end and on the high end has hit 24:39. He may be on the third pair now, but his play is asking for minutes.

Maxim Shabanov

-Max Shabanov and Cal Ritchie are listed as “rookies to consider”

-Simon Holmstrom is listed as a breakout candidate with a point projection of 48.

-Jonathan Drouin is listed as a deep sleeper with a point projections of 43.

After a disappointing season last year, if the Islanders can stay healthy I would expect all of these numbers to jump up.
