Well, it looks like Noah Dobson will have a new home, as the Montreal Canadiens traded for the now-former New York Islanders blueliner. This one is a blockbuster move, and since it's coming on draft day, it all but confirms that the Isles will roll with Matthew Schaefer with the first pick.
We knew Dobson could be on the move and rumors had been swirling for a while. Well now, that move has been made, and it signals a true change in direction for the Isles. The blue line won't be as stacked, but it almost certainly means they'll be building the unit around Schaefer.

So, what does this trade mean for the Islanders now that Dobson will continue his career with the Canadiens? For one, it means the Isles just got picks No. 16 and No. 17, plus Emil Heineman. But the key return is the dual draft picks.
Are the Islanders about to make another blockbuster move tonight?
While it's likely all but a done deal that the Isles will get Matthew Schaefer at No. 1overall, what will they do with Picks 16 and 17? If you ask me, they might just trade up and draft a hometown hero named James Hagens.
Return includes Emil Heineman and both of Montreal’s first-round picks tonight.

Will be interesting to see what NYI GM Mathieu Darche does with them https://t.co/VUtanRytwN
Hagens would give them a high-quality option, and one that the fans would love, thanks to his connection with Long Island. Should Schaefer indeed be the pick tonight, and if the Isles sent one or likely both picks elsewhere for the right to draft Hagens as the first round progresses, you may as well just give them an A-plus for their draft haul.
Still, there could be a chance general manager Mathieu Darche will look for quantity. And if that's the case, he may keep the picks. But to be frank, I doubt it. I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if you saw Matthew Schaefer and James Hagens donning blue sweaters tonight.
