New York Islanders All-Star Mathew Barzal is once again having quite the summer—off the ice.

Sometimes it's European vacations, other times it's rocking on stage with a guitar or training with mixed martial arts fighters. This summer, over the last week, he's shown that there are more things he can do that most of us could only dream about. The flashy forward pulled off an incredible feat by sinking two hole-in-ones in just six days.

Barzal’s already known for his silky hands and quick release on the ice, but now he’s proving those skills translate to the fairways as well. Adding to the buzz, Barzal was among the current Islanders to take part in the annual Clark Gillies Foundation Golf Outing, a staple of Long Island’s summer hockey calendar. He was joined by fellow teammates and alumni, including former captain Patrick Flatley, “Mr. Islander” Bob Nystrom, MSG broadcaster and ex-defenseman Thomas Hickey, and front office newcomber Matt Martin, among others.

The event benefits the Clark Gillies Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to supporting children who are physically, developmentally, or financially challenged—offering support for medical expenses, family aid, and moments that enhance their quality of life.

Barzal has long spoken about his love for the region’s top-tier courses—calling Long Island “the best place in the world” for golf—and this summer he’s backing up that praise with results. With two aces, a charitable swing at a legendary event, and his usual calm charisma, Barzal continues to build his status as a fan favorite with many years left on Long Island to perfect that golf swing further.

For Islanders fans eager to see him back healthy and flying in 2025-26, this blend of fun, form, and community spirit is exactly the kind of energy you want from your franchise star.

Let’s just hope his shot accuracy carries over to the ice this season.
