The New York Islanders are once again teaming up with the Town of Oyster Bay to offer a special “Learn to Play” Hockey Clinic as part of the Future Islanders Program. Designed for children ages 5–9 who are new to the game, the program includes eight on-ice training sessions starting August 6 and aims to introduce young players to the fundamentals of hockey in a fun, supportive setting.
Held at the Town of Oyster Bay Ice Skating Center in Bethpage, the clinic will be taught by former Islanders players and coaching staff, offering hands-on instruction for first-time skaters and players. The sessions will take place weekly on Wednesdays at 6:15 p.m. or Thursdays at 6:00 p.m. and will run through September 25. “We are pleased to partner with the New York Islanders to offer this exciting clinic for children looking to learn the fundamentals of hockey in a fun environment,” said Town Councilman Andrew Monteleone.

The $295 registration fee includes a full set of hockey gear for first-time participants, including a jersey, stick, gloves, helmet, skates, shoulder pads, pants, shin guards, and an equipment bag—everything a young player needs to get started.
Adding to the excitement, Islanders alumni Arron Asham and Radek Martinek will make special guest appearances during the program, giving kids a chance to learn from former NHL players and experience a true connection to the team. With the Islanders continuing to grow the game across Long Island, programs like this “Learn to Play” clinic are laying the foundation for the next generation of hockey talent—and Isles fans. Spots are limited and expected to fill quickly as families gear up for another unforgettable summer on the ice.
