The New York Islanders officially released their 2025-26 regular season schedule on Wednesday at 1 PM, along with the rest of the league. Still, it was veteran forward Cal Clutterbuck who stole the show in a viral video that accompanied the announcement.

In a light-hearted twist, the Isles dropped their schedule with a comedic video starring Clutterbuck as part of their “IslesU” summer internship program. The 37-year-old former winger turned TV analyst leaned into the role, delivering deadpan humor as he participated in mock intern duties while being tasked with the schedule release.

The video opens with Clutterbuck entering the program and taking a Zoom call for his assignment, ahead of playing a game of “Two Truths and a Lie,” dryly claiming that he has five kids, played in the NHL, and owns a dog. The lie is that he only has four kids, but his fellow intern didn't believe he skated for the Islanders or anyone else. From there, the clip cuts to him extolling the "benefits" of smelling salts—while humorously watching another intern gain the benefits from them at his desk—and ends with him meticulously applying scotch tape to the blade of his own bobblehead’s stick and getting into fistacuffs with the copy machine.

While the tone of the video was playful, the scheduled release of the footage had fans buzzing. The Islanders will open the season on the road against the Pittsburgh Penguins on October 9, before returning home for a matchup with the Washington Capitals on October 11 at UBS Arena. Always of interest are the games against the New York Rangers, and the Islanders will battle the Blueshirts four times this year, with the final games taking place as a home-and-home series in late January. The season pauses from February 6 to February 25 for the Winter Olympics.

The video was met with overwhelming fan approval online, blending the team’s gritty identity with a dose of modern, fan-first content marketing. Clutterbuck, one of the franchise’s longest-tenured players, once again proved he’s a glue guy—on the ice and on screen.
