Sports fans will try just about anything if it means seeing their team finally win a championship.

So if you're a New York Islanders fan and your team hasn't won a Stanley Cup since 1983 or even reached the Final since 1984, can you really blame someone for turning to supernatural help?

That's apparently what happened this week after one Islanders fan decided to enlist the services of WWE star Danhausen. Yes, that Danhausen.

If you have absolutely no idea what we're talking about, which is perfectly acceptable given we're talking about professional wrestling, stay with us for a few minutes.

The wrestling cult favorite recently became something of a folk hero in New York after successfully "uncursing" the Knicks, who then proceeded to end a 53-year championship drought in spectacular fashion. After trailing the Atlanta Hawks 2 games to 1 earlier in the playoffs, the Knicks ripped off a stunning 15-1 run to capture the NBA title, including an absurd 29-point comeback against the San Antonio Spurs in Game 4 that felt less like basketball and more like sorcery.

Coincidence? Probably. But when you're team is having a magical run, you don't ask questions.

Now Islanders fan Kim M (@IslesGirl3) has taken matters into their own hands, purchasing a Cameo from Danhausen in hopes of sending some of that magic toward Long Island.

Honestly, at this point, why not? Yes, you can ask how a team that won the NHL Lottery with only a 3.5% chance and selected rookie phenom Matthew Schaefer is cursed, but Isles fans have watched their team miss the playoffs in back-to-back seasons. They've watched dynasties come and go. They've watched rivals win championships. There's multiple generations of fans, just like the Knicks, that don't know what it feels like to say your team is No. 1.

The best part is that even Danhausen isn't fully convinced this thing works anymore. In the video, posted on X, according to the wrestling star, the uncursing powers may be "wearing thin" and there are "no guarantees." Not exactly a ringing endorsement.

Still, if a few human monies and a Cameo message can somehow get the Islanders back into the playoffs, most fans would probably consider it money well spent.

And who knows? Stranger things have happened.
