Since joining the NY Islanders in what was one of the bigger blockbuster moves of the 2022-23 season, Bo Horvat has been nothing short of sensational.

During his two full seasons with the organization, Horvat has amassed 33 and 28 goals, respectively, finishing second on the team in each season, and led the Isles last season in points with 57.

The Isles are looking for big things from Bo Horvat

While these numbers may be impressive for Islanders standards, they're rather mediocre for a team's top performer compared to the rest of the league.

Throughout his tenure on Long Island, Horvat has seen a carousel of linemates playing on his wing. He was at his best with Mat Barzal, but according to Head Coach Patrick Roy, Barzal will be returning to center this season.

As things currently stand, it appears Horvat will play alongside Kyle Palmieri and newcomer Jonathan Drouin. Drouin plays a similar style to Barzal, predominantly a pass-first forward, capable of finessing passes to Horvat in favorable positions. Drouin accrued 26 assists last season with the Colorado Avalanche, playing in only 43 games.

Barzal's return to center should also allow for more favorable matchups when Horvat is on the ice. Especially on the road when the Islanders have the second change, opposing coaches will need to decide whether their top defensive pair will line up against Horvat or Barzal's line.

Horvat, who had 10 power-play goals in 2023-24, saw that number reduced to just three last season. Barzal's absence for most of the season had a significant effect on his numbers, but this season, Barzal could potentially play the point on the man-advantage with Drouin on the wing. Horvat excels off the one-timer from the bumper position, and could be playing alongside more skilled passers, which should see him back in double-digit range.

If the Islanders are hoping to make some noise this season, Horvat will be one of the key contributors, as he could be poised for a big season.
