Earlier today we mentioned that there's a good chance that the NY Islanders won't have any of their players being represented at the 4 Nations Faceoff in February. Well, that may have been a bit premature, as news is beginning to leak surrounding the rosters of the four participating countries.

Rosters were officially submitted yesterday but won't be announced until tomorrow. Finland and Sweden will be announced at 2:00, followed by Canada and the USA at 6:30. The reason for the delay is to allow networks in Canada and the United States to prepare for their reveal show.

Nelson expected to make Team USA roster

So with the rosters finalized, there are some reports of players who have made the cut and others who haven't, and according to Chris Johnston of TSN, Brock Nelson may be heading to Montreal and Boston to represent his country in the first best-on-best tournament since the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.

"It's an experience over young skill type of thing," said Johnston on TSN's Insider Trading. "Vincent Trochek, Chris Kreider, Brock Nelson, are all players we expect to make the Team USA team at the bottom end of the forward line and it comes at the expense of some of those talented young players."

Two of those young players Johnston expects Nelson to make the cut over are Cole Caufield and Tage Thompson - two of the league's premier young talents. But with building a team, Bill Guerin and Team USA need to look at more than just goal scorers, as the more experienced names mentioned are capable of playing a bigger role with the ability to play further down the lineup.

We'll find out tomorrow evening if Nelson will officially be named to Team USA tomorrow, adding another rooting interest for the Islanders during the two-week break from the NHL.
