The NY Islanders acquired JG Pageau on Feb. 24, 2020. Still, the Ottawa Senators faithful surely haven’t forgotten about the Ottawa native who spent the first seven and a half years with the organization.

Before the Sens Game 3 matchup with the Toronto Maple Leafs last night, the first playoff game at Canadian Tire Center since 2017, the organization brought back long-time goaltender Craig Anderson to hype up the crowd before the opening faceoff.

With the crowd already in a frenzy, Anderson brought up Pageau’s four-goal performance against the NY Rangers in Game 2 of the 2017 Eastern Conference Semi-Finals. He then led the capacity crowd in a chant of “Pageau, Pageau, Pageau.”

On that night in 2017, Pageau opened the scoring for the Sens in the first period, knotting the game at one. Trailing by two goals late into the third, Pager scored with 3:19 remaining and again with 1:02 left on the clock to send the game into overtime to complete the hat-trick. His final goal came 2:54 into 2OT for his fourth of the night, completing the comeback.

"It is a special moment,” Pageau said after the game. “I'll remember that, I think, for the rest of my life, for sure, but I want to stop there now. I really want to try to turn the page as quick as possible and focus on the next game."

Pageau brought that energy on day one with the Islanders, scoring in his first game, which so happened to be against the Rangers, and dropping the gloves with Jacob Trouba after a big hit was laid on Michael Dal Colle.

Pageau is beloved on Long Island and in Ottawa, but that moment still holds a special place in the heart of Sens fans eight years later.
