NY Islanders’ Jean-Gabriel Pageau gets a pretty cool nod to his NHL career

One of the many perks of being a professional athlete making millions of dollars a year is getting access to some pretty cool stuff.

Sometimes, that stuff can be customized to reflect a career spent at the highest level of the sport, which makes it even better.

New York Islanders center Jean-Gabriel Pageau got exactly that this week.

Pageau showed off a custom golf putter featuring alternate logos from both NHL teams he has played for, the Islanders and Ottawa Senators.

The custom black putter with the two logos was posted on the Casey Golf Company Instagram page with the caption "I always wanted to make it to the #NHL. This is the closest I’ll get!Here’s a custom putter made for@pagertrain showcasing the two teams he’s been a huge part of!" The company is described as a boutique, hand-crafted golf brand based in Scoudouc, Canada. The company specializes in combining metalworking and golf to produce fine, custom-milled metal putters.

Pageau spent parts of eight seasons with the Senators, appearing in 428 games before being traded to the Islanders during the 2019-20 season. He has since played 443 games with New York, becoming a dependable middle-six center, penalty killer and special-teams contributor.

This past season, Pageau recorded 17 goals and 35 points in 74 games.

After signing a three-year extension at the trade deadline, Pageau is set to enter his eighth season with the Islanders and is closing in on a pair of significant career milestones. He sits just 29 games shy of 900 NHL appearances and 24 goals away from reaching 200 for his career.

There are certainly bigger benefits that come with playing professional hockey. But having a one-of-a-kind golf club decorated with the logos of the two teams that have defined your NHL career? That's a new, very cool one. Now, let's see if it helps his putting game.
