We haven't seen any NY Islanders players take the ice since the 6-1 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets in the final game of the regular season. But with the World Championships now underway, Noah Dobson and Bo Horvat are back in action and didn't disappoint in Canada's 4-0 win over Slovenia.

Horvat finished second on the Islanders in goals this season with 28 tallies, trailing Anders Lee by one goal for the team lead. After today, the Islanders' Alternate Captain leads Canada in scoring, putting two in on the power play. Both goals came from his typical spot in the bumper position, while being fed by Nathan MacKinnon.

Horvat and Dobson get on the board for Canada

Dobson, who finished with 31 points fewer than last season, scored the same number of goals this season with 10. In game one, he finds himself on the score sheet, jumping into the rush on the man-advantage with a backdoor tap-in off a pass from Calder Trophy nominee, Macklin Calebrini.

For Islanders fans, they're not used to seeing Islanders players with their names on the score sheet while on the power play. Dobson's one goal today on the man-advantage matches his total in 71 games this season, while Horvat finished today with two power-play goals and just three in 81 games.

One glaring difference could be the addition of MacKinnon and Sidney Crosby, but if the NY Islanders are hoping to make any noise next season, they'll have to greatly improve from the 12.56% they finished the season with on the man-advantage, ranked 31st in the league, only ahead of the Anaheim Ducks.
