It was a frightening moment that nobody ever wants to see on a sheet of ice. In last night's World Junior Championship matchup between the USA and Switzerland, Team USA defenseman Cole Hutson took a puck to the back of the head and remained down on the ice.

After being tended to by the trainers for a few minutes, a stretcher was called onto the ice, on which Hutson was taken to a local hospital.

The good news is that Hutson was soon released from the hospital, rejoining his team at Grand Casino Arena.

In an emotional moment, NY Islanders prospect and Hutson’s teammate with Team USA and at Boston University, Cole Eiserman, took to Hutson’s side while receiving treatment on the ice, holding his teammate and friends' hands in a moment of need.

The moment symbolized something bigger than hockey, as one friend comforting another friend.

“It’s obviously tough, he’s probably my best buddy,” Eiserman told Chris Peters after the USA 2-1 victory. “I didn’t really know what happened. I just saw him on the ice, and he was saying he couldn’t really move. Grabbed his hand to make sure he was able to squeeze it. He could move his feet and stuff. Horrible to see and everything. I texted Lane (Hutson), and I guess everything at the hospital went well - all positive. Hope to see him tonight and just prayers for him.”

Eiserman and Hutson have been teammates for two seasons at BU, and this is their second World Junior Championship together, looking to defend last year's Gold Medal.

Hutson will be evaluated as to whether he can continue playing in the tournament

While this tournament means so much to so many, it shows that things are better than hockey. And in the moment, hockey was the furthest thing from Eiserman’s mind. All that mattered was the health of his friend, with positive news coming out of a frightening situation.
