New York Islanders prospect Cole Eiserman was seen on crutches following Boston University’s 3–1 win over UConn on Saturday night, raising concern about a potential lower-body injury to one of college hockey’s most dangerous scorers.
The sophomore winger was injured in the first period after being slammed and pinned against the boards during the first period. Eiserman did not return for the second or third periods and appeared unable to put full weight on the injured leg as he exited the ice.
BU head coach Jay Pandolfo offered only a preliminary update postgame. “We won’t know much until tomorrow or Tuesday,” Pandolfo told reporters. “No question, it forced him to leave the game, so a little concerned. We’ll see where it goes.”

Eiserman entered the night with six goals in his first seven NCAA games, validating the Isles’ belief in his finishing ability when they drafted him 20th overall in 2024. His shooting threat has been central to BU’s early-season offense, and any absence would represent a significant loss for the Terriers.
The injury comes at a moment when Eiserman was beginning to establish rhythm at the college level, showing the same goal-scoring instincts and release that defined his U.S. National Team Development Program tenure. The Islanders have taken a long-view development approach with Eiserman, making Saturday’s scene — crutches in hand and limited weight on the injured leg — an unsettling one for both the college program and the NHL club.
Further evaluation is expected in the coming days. For now, BU, the Isles organization, and fans are left to wait and hope the early optics look worse than the underlying damage.
