Much of the hype around the NY Islanders' prospects over the last week has surrounded Danny Nelson and Cole Eiserman in the World Junior Championship and rightfully so. But another Isles prospect has been lighting up the NCAA this season.

Quinn Finley entered this season without massive expectations, finishing his freshman season at Wisconsin University with 16 points (10 G, 6 A). The Islanders' third-round pick in 2022 was considered a project when Lou Lamoriello selected him that high, but he's come into his own and has been one of college hockey's best players this season.

As the calendar turned to 2025, Finley leads the nation in goals with 16, having a three-goal cushion at the top. Not only is he racking up the goals, but his assist numbers have been impressive as well, registering 10 on the season, seeing him sitting second in the country in points with 26, trailing only Jack Devine (FLA 7th round pick in 2022) of the University of Denver by one point.

Finley was named the best offensive player over the weekend when Wisconsin competed in the four-team Kwik Trip Holiday Faceoff. The sophomore winner registered two goals against Ferris State in an 8-0 win in game one, adding another goal in the Badgers win over UCONN. Fellow Islanders' prospect and Wisconsin teammate, Zach Schulz, was named defenseman of the tournament.

Additionally, Finley was named the Big 10's second star of the week - the second time he's been honored as one of the conference's stars of the week this season.

Finley and the Badgers are coming up on one of their toughest matchups of the season, playing a two-game set against the nation's top team, Michigan State. The first matchup is tonight in East Lansing, with the second being played at Wrigley Field as part of the Frozen Confines.
