Lats week, the NY Islanders inked Quinn Finley to his entry-level contract after his junior season with the Wisconsin Badgers of the NCAA. Expected to report to the Bridgeport Islanders for their postseason run, the former third-round pick will miss the remainder of the season, undergoing shoulder surgery.
The news was announced by the Islanders earlier today, something that came as a bit of a surprise. After inking his first professional contract, Finley himself was excited to begin the next chapter of his hockey career.
"I'm super fortunate to sign with New York," Finley said. "I've dreamed of this as a kid."
Before inking his deal with the Islanders, Finley led the Badgers in goals with 17, as Wisconsin advanced all the way to the Finals of the NCAA Frozen Four. For a second season in a row, an Islanders prospect fell just short of a National Championship (Cole Eiserman with Boston University), falling to Denver University in a heartbreaker, 2-1.

Earlier in the season, Finkey was called to represent the U.S. Collegiate Selects, alongside fellow Islanders prospect Danny Nelson. Playing against some of the best competition in Europe. Here, Finley registered five points (2 G, 3 A) in five games, losing in the finals to HC Davos.
Finley is expected to make a full recovery for training camp and will likely start the 2026-27 season with the Islanders' AHL affiliate as they relocate to Hamilton, ON. The team in Hamilton will have a roster full of some of the Islanders' top prospects, as many of them are currently with the team in Bridgeport for the Calder Cup Playoffs.
