If the frustration of the NY Islanders is becoming too much for you, it wouldn't be the worst idea to turn your attention to Boston University and NY Islanders prospects Cole Eiserman and Kamil Bednarik, who have punched their ticket to the NCAA Frozen Four.
After somewhat of an up-and-down season, the Terriers advanced out of the Midwest Regional, beating Cornell last night by a score of 3-2 in OT to become the first team to advance to St. Louis, where this year's Frozen Four will be held.
Neither Benarik of Eiserman etched their name into the scoresheet, but both have played pivotal roles in BU's run deep into the postseason.
Though he hasn't been lighting up the score sheet, Bednarik has emerged as a reliable two-way center for Jay Pandolfo and the Terriers. He has just two goals and 16 assists through 38 games, but his work in the defensive end has been crucial to BU's success.
We're running out of superlatives to describe goal Eiserman, but he has been sensational after 19 teams passed on him in the first round of the 2024 NHL Draft.
In a back-and-forth game against Ohio State on Thursday, it was Eiserman's play that appeared to break the ice and allow BU to take over the game. He scored once directly off the faceoff, once from behind the goal line, and managed to miss a gaping net that would have secured his first collegiate hat trick, but he managed to ring it off the bar.
Eiserman's 23 goals this season are the most among NCAA freshmen, as he'll look to add to his total on April 10, where they'll take on either Penn State or UCONN.
