After being selected by the NY Islanders in the second round of the 2025 NHL Draft, Daniil Prokhorov has been named to Dynamo Moscow’s KHL roster for the 2025-26 season.
After his PTO with Dynamo Moscow, the Islanders elected to sign the massive Russian forward to an ELC. After putting pen to paper, the Isles loaned Prokhorov to the KHL club where he’ll spend this season playing in one of the world's top leagues.
Prokhorov makes KHL roster
Once inking his ELC, questions arose as to where Prokhorov would spend this season. With his CHL rights being owned by the Sarnia Sting of the OHL, there was the possibility he could make the transition to North America if he were not named to Dynamo's roster. The Islanders likely knew that he would be named to Dynamo Moscow’s roster with an NHL opt-out clause, and figured it best to get him under contract as soon as possible.

Prokhorov spent last season playing in the MHL (Russia’s juniors division), recording 27 points (20 G, 7 A) in 40 games. The step up from the MHL to the KHL is a massive one, but it appears Dynamo Moscow believes he is capable of the transition.
While Prokhorov has an above-average shot and is up to the task of scoring in the KHL, his massive size makes him extremely appealing.
Standing 6’6”, Prokhorov has been referred to as a missile on skates. He imposes his size on the opposition without a hitch and has the skill to complement it. He is still an incredibly raw talent, but will now be able to develop his game against stiffer competition.
