The New York Islanders officially unveiled their Hometown Remix jersey Monday, confirming months of speculation and previous online leaks that pointed toward the return of the franchise's iconic Fisherman design.

The new uniform features a white base with navy shoulders, teal and orange wave-inspired striping and a redesigned Fisherman crest. Updated lighthouse patches appear on the shoulders, while the lettering and numbering incorporate subtle fisherman-hook details.

The design is largely consistent with images that circulated online earlier this year, leaving few surprises when the Islanders made the announcement.

The team also hinted at the Fisherman's return in October with a cryptic teaser that included an encrypted message. Fans decoded the message using a Vigenère cipher and former Islanders forward Ziggy Palffy's surname as the key.

The result was "LOOK WHAT THE TIDE BROUGHT IN," a reference that appeared to confirm the direction of the new uniform.

The Islanders described the jersey as a modern interpretation of the team's controversial 1990s design, incorporating elements intended to reflect Long Island's coastal identity and the franchise's history.

The original Fisherman logo debuted in 1995 and was retired after two seasons following considerable criticism from fans. In recent years, however, the design has experienced a resurgence in popularity, with the Islanders previously bringing it back as part of their Reverse Retro uniform collection.

The Hometown Remix represents another chapter in that revival, combining the familiar crest with an updated color scheme and additional design details.

The Islanders are scheduled to debut the jersey Thursday against the Carolina Hurricanes at UBS Arena, the first of 11 planned appearances during the 2026-27 season.

While the official unveiling offered little that hadn't already been seen or suggested, it confirmed the Fisherman's continued place in the Islanders' evolving uniform history.
