The New York Islanders were supposed to be welcoming the Seattle Kraken into town today but a blizzard has postponed the afternoon contest. Long Island has been hit with over a foot of snow so as a result, the league decided to push the game.
Now, the Islanders will play on Wednesday, February 2 at 7:00 pm instead. Any tickets for today's game will be honored on Wednesday when these two teams go at it.
Here's an updated look at their remaining games on the home stand after the shift in the schedule:
1/30: Islanders vs Wild 7:30 pm
2/1: Islanders vs Senators 7:30 pm
2/2: Islanders vs Kraken 7:00 pm
In their first year of existence, the Seattle Kraken have been off to a tough start. They are just 14-25-4 on the season and currently sit in the bottom of the Pacific Division in the Western Conference.
Jared McCann is the Kraken's leading scorer with 17 goals and 26 points on the season. The one in second place in points is familiar face, Jordan Eberle. Eb's has 12 goals and 12 assists for 24 points on the season.
Obviously with the Islanders lack of offense the thought of having him on the top line with Mathew Barzal and Anders Lee sounds pretty nice right about now. His awaited return to the Island will be put off a couple of days unfortunately due to the snow but I'd imagine a warm welcome for him on Wednesday.
In 272 games as an Islander, Eberle had 76 goals and 149 points to his name. None were bigger than his Game 5 overtime winner against the Lightning in 2020.
After this stretch of three games, the Islanders don't play again until the February 9 in Vancouver. A long road trip is on the other side of this, so the Isles need to take care of business at home.
