New York Islanders leading goal-scorers Brock Nelson and Bo Horvat each entered last night's game in Philadelphia sitting on 29 goals, and looking to end long droughts without a goal.

Each did exactly that, leading the Isles to a must-have 4-3 O.T. win against the Flyers and accomplishing a rather rare feat in recent franchise history.

Horvat, back playing with Mathew Barzal, scored 18 seconds after Matt Martin tied the game at one to give the Isles a 2-1 lead in the first period. It ended a six-game goalless streak as the 28-year-old hit the 30-goal mark for the third consecutive season and registered his 500th career point. According to NHL PR, he joined Nathan MacKinnon, Aleksander Barkov, Elias Lindholm, and Sean Monahan as the fifth player from the 2013 NHL Draft class to record 500 career points.

Nelson's scoring slump was even worse, having not found the net in 10 games before one-timing a Kyle Palmieri pass off a turnover for the game-winner. The 2010 first-round pick (30th overall) has now recorded three consecutive 30-goal seasons with the Islanders, just the sixth player to do that with the team. The only players in franchise history with more are Bryan Trottier (11), Mike Bossy (10), Pat LaFontaine (6), Clark Gillies (6) and John Tavares (4).

With Horvat and Nelson each reaching 30 goals on the same night, they became the first pair of teammates to hit the mark since the 2017-18 season when Anders Lee (40) and John Tavares (37) did it under head coach Doug Weight. Prior to that, you have to go back to the 2011-12 season when Tavares (31) and Matt Moulson (36) accomplished the feat.
