In sports like basketball, soccer, and baseball, one of the most discernible things about an athlete is their tattoos. Players can express themselves through their tattoos, but in hockey, this is impossible since the players are essentially covered from head to toe in gear. Instead, something that is identifiable on a player is their gear.
NHL players receive massive endorsement deals from the top hockey companies around the world - no different than a shoe endorsement for an NBA player. NY Islanders center Bo Horvat has worn Bauer gear throughout his career, but it appears Horvat and Bauer will go their separate ways this season. During off-season training this summer, Horvat has been giving some new gear a try, finding what he's most comfortable with before the start of the season.
A diffferent look for Bo Horvat this season
According to Matt Stathopoulos of GearGeek.com, Horvat has recently been seen donning Warrior gear while training in Muskoka, Ontario. "He was seen decked out in all Warrior gear, including their gloves, a Warrior stick, and perhaps most notably, their Alpha One helmet."
It's been over 10 years since Horvat has used a non-Bauer stick, going back to his time with the London Knights in the OHL, as claimed by Stahopoulos.
It has to be assumed that Horvat's deal with Bauer has expired, rather than him willingly leaving the company. In the last two seasons, of which he spent one-and-a-half with the Islanders, Horvat has concluded his season with the best point totals of his career, finishing with 70 and 68, respectively.
