New York Islanders announce 2022-23 preseason schedule

With no Isles hockey since April, it's nice to get a reminder that Islanders hockey will return soon(ish).

Last year, as UBS Arena was being built, the Islanders played their preseason home games in Bridgeport at the B-Isles home Total Mortgage Arena. This year all home games will be played at UBS Arena. Which is, of course, to be expected, but I love the idea of supporting the AHL squad and its market with an NHL game, even if it's a preseason game.

But, again, it's understandable. UBS is the Islanders home so if they're going to play a home game it should be there, no?

There are going to be some interesting storylines for this year's preseason:

-How do the new additions (whoever they happen to be) settle with the team?
-Is Wahlstrom playing with Barzal on the top line?
-Will Aatu Räty show he belongs in the NHL ASAP?
-What about Simon Holmstrom? How close is he to the NHL?

Not to mention all the questions about Lane Lambert and whomever he decides to hire as his assistants. It's going to be an interesting preseason and now we know when the game will begin (games aren't the start of camp per se).

Last year the Islanders went 3-0-2 in their five preseason games. Remember one game was called off because of an electrical issue in New Jersey. In those five games, they put up two shutouts and held a +5 goal differential.
