Not much is going on with the New York Islanders these days. GM Lou Lamoriello is, like all the other GMs, waiting for the playoffs to come to an end before doing anything. And as we all wait for something to happen, all eyes are on what happens with former head coach Barry Trotz.

Yesterday we found out that the Vegas Golden Knights hired former Boston Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy. To me, that was going to be the top destination for Trotz. It's a team full of superstar players ready to make the jump to not only the playoffs but challenge for the Stanley Cup. Now we know that won't be where he ends up.

So now where does Trotz end up?

Probably back at home, in Winnipeg. A number of you probably had Winnipeg pegged as the spot of Trotz. After all, Winnipeg has a number of top-quality players; from Mark Scheifele to Kyle Connor, and even Connor Hellebuyck between the pipes.

It's a good team, and with the right leadership, maybe they get back to the playoffs, and maybe make a run. A guy like Barry Trotz could be that coach for them.

And look, Winnipeg is clearly trying hard to get him. We already know that the Jets met with him about a month ago. And now a brewery in Winnipeg is offering Trotz a lifetime supply of beer if he were to take the job.

And it doesn't end there, the Little Brown Jug Brewery would also name a beer after Trotz if he were to take the job.

I'm sure this isn't going to sway him in any way, even if he drank beer. But it goes to show just how much the Winnipeg faithful want Trotz to be the guy behind the bench. And I don't blame them one bit for trying.

We all remember how BlueLine tried to sway John Tavares to stay when he became a free agent with bagels for life. It didn't work of course, but we all knew it wouldn't be the deciding factor even if it did. But it showed how much the fanbase wanted him to stay. Just like the Jets fans want Trotz to come home.
