That was gross. The New York Islanders were back in action on Saturday night after spending Friday in Dallas. The Blues played last night too but only one of these teams looked like they were the ones in a back-to-back.

In the first period, Jordan Binnington was phenomenal in net for the Blues robbing a couple of Brock Nelson chances and a good Anders Lee chance. A familiar friend, Nick Leddy, got the Blues on the board first was his third of the season. Just moments later, Vladimir Tarasenko made it 2-0 getting the rebound down low.

In the second, things did not get much better. Justin Faulk scored two goals in the span of 1:36 seconds to extend the lead to 4-0 for St. Louis. The first was in the high slot while the second one he showed us his baseball skills. The Cardinals might be able to use his skillset on the diamond.

Ivan Barbashev decided to get in on the fun too to make it a 5-0 game. Before the end of the period, we did have an Islanders highlight to share. Grant Hutton scored his first career goal with Anders Lee providing the screen in front.

Unfortunately, the Islanders absolutely stunk tonight so they let in another goal 39 seconds later. This time it was Robert Thomas who found a soft spot in the defense that ripped one home to put the Blues up 6-1.

In the third period, the Islanders had some chances as the Blues were playing loose without much threat of offense. The Islanders couldn't find the back of the net as a forgettable period ends a night the Islanders will hope to forget as they fall 6-1 in St. Louis.

The Islanders are back in action on Tuesday against the Penguins back at UBS Arena as the road trip is now over.
