Islanders Give No Show Effort vs Seattle (Highlights)

The New York Islanders welcomed Jordan Eberle to town tonight as the Seattle Kraken and Islanders squared off. In the first period, the biggest highlight was that tribute to Jordan Eberle. Other than that, it was a very slow period.

The Isles had just five shots on goal to the Kraken's 11. Semyon Varlamov was good when tested but the Islanders got nothing of substance towards the net. In the second period, it was, unfortunately, more of the same.

You had Mat Barzal take a really rough penalty early in the period. He turned the puck over at the blue line and then elected to hook Ryan Donato. He could've just dumped the puck in and avoided the penalty and turnover but instead, the Islanders went to the kill.

The penalty kill was good and as soon as the power play expired, Vince Dunn went off for roughing against JG Pageau. On the power play, the Islanders weren't able to get too much going and the same could be said for the rest of the period.

Ironically, this is their final game for the next little bit here as the All Star break is set to get underway.

Finally, 6:04 into the third period, there was a goal. It was Jared McCann assisted by Jordan Eberle who got the Kraken on the board. It appeared like Varlamov was not able to get back into position in time.

Well, just over two minutes later Vince Dunn got in on the fun with his fifth of the year. I mean, just a putrid effort from the Islanders today against a team that has just five wins on the road all year. Seattle would add an empty-net goal for good measure securing a 3-0 win.

The Islanders limp into the All Star break and will have to sit on this performance until next Wednesday when they take on the Vancouver Canucks on the road.
