Well, Islanders fans finally got their long-awaited wish. Mathew Barzal and Oliver Wahlstrom joined forces on a line, FINALLY! In the first period, they looked really good as they had numerous scoring chances and the first goal of the game.

Mathew Barzal went between his skates and found Zach Parise who tapped it home.

First, what a play from Mat Barzal. Second, Zach Parise now has 15 points (7 goals, 8 assists) in his last 23 games. The man is good. Don't trade him, extend him please.

At 9:58, the Ducks would answer back with a Josh Manson goal. Ilya Sorokin kicked out a rebound and Manson snuck it right past him.

Ironically, the final minute of the period was maybe their best (usually it's the opposite). Kyle Palmieri scored at 19:31 and then with four seconds left, Anders Lee did this:

You believe people doubted the Captain? Said he was washed up. Fools! He now has seven goals in the last four games and 21 on the season. He has a legit chance for 30 this year which would be a solid number for him to clear this year (even if they aren't a playoff team it bodes well for 2022-2023).

In the second, Isac Lundestrom made it a one goal game. Right off the faceoff the Ducks threw one on net and Lundestrom was there to cash in.

The Isles would get one back though before the period closed. Kyle Palmieri, AGAIN, was able to score.

Eight goals in his last 14 games after going the first 29 games with just one. Unreal.

In the third period it was a goalie show. Ilya Sorokin made big save after big save and then John Gibson robbed what looked like a sure goal for Kyle Palmieri to keep it at 4-2.

Later in the third, Zach Parise took a hooking call sending the Islanders on the kill. Once again Ilya Sorokin stole the show for the Islanders, with the help of some Cal Clutterbuck physicality, once again keeping the score the same.

At around the two minute mark, Anaheim pulled the goalie and were able to get one as Adam Henrique scores with 1:44 remaining. Suddenly, the Islanders were on their heels after getting great goalie play form Sorokin all period.

The Islanders hung on to win 4-3! Three straight home wins for the Islanders as they are hitting their stride right now. Enjoy it, the team is playing good right now.
