Next year, the New York Islanders will be playing in their 50th season. In 50 years the Islanders have four Stanley Cups, and five trips to the Cup final with a large portion of their history taking place in the late 1970s and 1980s.

Still, it's amazing to think about this once thought of young expansion team will be celebrating their 50th season just next year. For the upcoming season, the Islanders dropped an anniversary logo:

There were mixed reviews on the logo but I kind of like it. The font looks very 70s which of course makes sense as the Islanders first season was back in 1972 and the gold is a nice touch to go with the golden anniversary.

The Islanders wore the 40th anniversary patch on the right shoulder of their jerseys during the 2012 season.

The wave jersey. The Islanders wore it on their chest in the upper right side. It's a bit controversial for the connotation of that era of jersey but it was bold and very 90s.

On the left shoulder your will see the 20th anniversary logo. It's very blocky but it very much so gives off late 80s or early 90s vibes. The 75 year NHL anniversary logo is much more iconic if you ask me.
