The New York Islanders won three out of the four games that they played last week. However, they also scored a point in the game they lost, since it went to a shootout. It was a positive week overall for the team and was a good continuation from the week before.

The offense was hot, and the goalies played very well. This was a recipe for success for the Islanders. These are the top three players of the week that showed up for their team and made their mark in a big way.

New York Islanders Top Three Players Of The Week

3. Ryan Pulock

Number three on this list is the Islanders defenseman, Ryan Pulock. Pulock is arguably one of the brightest stars on this team and has been all season. During the week, Pulock picked up two assists and one goal.

The numbers, while they don't look like the best, are great for a defenseman. Pulock has shown to not only be a playmaker for the team but also a solid defenseman as well who is tough for any offense to get passed.

2. Ilya Sorokin

Ilya Sorokin played twice last week. He won both of those times and showed the team and the fans why he is the starting goalie. On Sunday, the Islanders played the Anaheim Ducks and won by a score of four to three. In that game, Sorokin allowed three goals, picked up 39 saves, and had a .928 SV%.

The next time Sorokin was out on the ice, we saw more of the same from him. In one of the bigger games of the season, the Islanders traveled to Madison Square Garden to play the cross-town rivals, New York Rangers. Sorokin only allowed one goal and picked up 29 saves for a .967 SV%. He also picked up what many are calling the save of the year. Sorokin played incredibly well and deserved to be higher up on this list.

1. Brock Nelson

Brock Nelson had arguably the best week on the Islanders. Nelson picked up four goals and one assist last week, What makes this so notable though is on Saturday at home against the Dallas Stars, Brock Nelson picked up his fourth career hat-trick.

Not only did Nelson pick up his fourth career hat-trick, but he also got himself a new career-high in goals in a single season, with 27. Nelson played great last week and showed the team and the fans why he is one of the best players on offense this season.
