Jordan Eberle is back on Long Island to face his former club as the Seattle Kraken dance with the New York Islanders for the first time in their history.
It's nice to see Jordan "Also A Gary" Eberle back on Long Island. In his four years with the Isles he put up 169 points in 272 games. That's a good return. It's not elite, but remember the Islanders gave up Ryan Strome in order to get Eberle. It was a good trade that proved fruitful for the Islanders. Specifically with how he and Mathew Barzal got on.
The relationship that he and Mathew Barzal had on (and off) the ice is especially poignant of late with Barzal stating it's been difficult creating some chemistry with shifting linemates.
It will be nice to see Eberle back, but hopefully, the Islanders spoil his return with a second win in two days.
Oh! Don't forget that Jiggs McDonald will be calling the game tonight for the islanders. Brendan is away so in steps the legendary broadcaster to sit alongside Butch Goring.
New York Islanders vs Seattle Kraken: The Return of the Gary
Everyone is healthy so the lineup probably looks just as it was in the 4-1 win against the Ottawa Senators. The only expected change would be between the pipes with Ilya Sorokin making way for Semyon Varlamov. I know Trotz said he was going to run the "hot hand" going forward, but that certainly doesn't apply in back-to-backs.
Projected Lineup
Lee-Barzal-Bailey
Beauvillier-Nelson-Palmieri
Parise-Pageau-Wahlstrom
Martin-Cizikas-Clutterbuck
Pelech-Pulock
Chara-Dobson
Greene-Mayfield
Varlamov (Sorokin)
Those D-pairs will certainly change as the game goes on. It's possible that Pelech-Pulock pair s not together to start the game but end up together near the end of it.
Betting Odds
Islanders are favored to win today, but not as heavy favorites as they were against the Senators with a -185 money line at the time of writing per WynnBet.
