Thomas Hickey hasn’t stepped on the ice as an NHL player for two seasons but continues to make an impact on the NHL.

Hickey joined the NY Islanders broadcast team for MSG in 2022, thriving in his transition from the ice to the booth.

After only two years of experience, Hickey is taking his career to the next level, as it was announced yesterday that he’ll be joining the Canadian broadcast for Monday Night Hockey on Amazon Prime. He’ll be one of the team's analysts, joined by names like Jody Shelley, Mark Messier, and John Forslund.

Last month there were reports that a position could be offered to Hickey, as those reports came to fruition.

For those worried that Hickey will be leaving his job with the Islanders on MSG, he made it clear he would be back alongside Brendan Burke and Butch Goring this season.

"Hicks has always been so knowledgeable with the game, and he's a very smart guy that's very articulate, and he can lay the game out in terms that make a lot of sense and can show a lot of great insight into what we're doing," Anders Lee told The Hockey News in February. "So, I think, when I've seen him on there, it's really impressive how well he's done.”

Hickey was drafted fourth overall by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2007 NHL Draft, playing in parts of nine seasons all with the Islanders. He finished his playing career with 22 goals and 95 assists across 456 games.

In 2022, Hickey joined the New Jersey Devils organization at training camp on a PTO. After not making the final roster and not being claimed by another organization, He jumped to the broadcast booth where he has a long and bright future ahead of him.
