New York Islanders captain Anders Lee has made an impact off the ice and in the community for years, culminating in taking home the King Clancy Award at this year's NHL ceremony in Las Vegas.

On Wednesday, Lee announced the date for the next major event to continue those efforts. During a conference call with the media, Lee shared that this year's Jam Kancer in the Kan event will be held on Saturday, September 14th, at Northwell Health Ice Center in East Meadow. Last year's event raised over $150,000 and has surpassed $2 million since 2017. The King Clancy Trophy is expected to be on display at the Isles' practice facility during the event.

“Last year, it was great that we were finally able to bring Anders’ event back, and it was successful beyond even my wildest dreams,” said Jamey Crimmins, the event's originator in Newsday. “We raised over $155,000, so my goal is to exceed that. The more money we raise, the more we’re able to help families.”

Lee's teammates have been a fixture at the event, which originally took place after an Isles' home game. However, two longtime teammates may no longer be attending the event as members of the Islanders as both Cal Clutterbuck and Matt Martin are unrestricted free agents and the Isles roster is near completion and is just $500,000 under the league's $88.5M salary cap.

“These are two guys that have been the heart and soul of our team for a very long time,” said Lee. “You don’t get better teammates than Matty and Clutter. Regardless of what happens, those are going to be spots or shoes or skates that are going to be tough to fill."

Regardless what happens, expect former teammates and current ones to take part of the annual charity event, which has exemplifies Lee's commitment to a cause that has impacted his life and the life of others battling "Kancer" throughout his Islanders' career.
