After one season in charge of the Seattle Kraken, the organization elected to move in a different direction, firing Dan Bylsma and hiring former NY Islanders Head Coach Lane Lambert as the third head coach in the organization's history.

Lambert, hired on May 29, sat in front of the media yesterday for the first time since being appointed to his second head coaching job, and fielded a question about his tenure on Long Island, saying there are some things he'd do differently and some he'd do the same.

"From my standpoint, our defensive structure, the identity that we had, the identity that we played with - I'm proud of that," Lambert said. "There's certain little things that I will look at and look into changing. But, at the end of the day, I'm proud of what happened in New York."

Lambert was hired by Lou Lamoriello in May 2022, taking over for his mentor, Barry Trotz. In his one-and-a-half seasons at the helm, Lambert led the Islanders to the 2023 playoffs after a late-season surge, only to be ousted by the Carolina Hurricanes in the first round.

In January of 2024, Lambert was fired as the team struggled to stay in the playoff race and was replaced by Patrick Roy, who brought the team back into playoff position.

After being let go by the Islanders, Lambert joined Craig Berube's staff with the Toronto Maple Leafs for this season, before being scooped up by Seattle.

Lambert will make one trip to UBS Arena this season, his first back in charge of another franchise.
