After last night's performance against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Matthews Schaefer has been the talking point of the NHL universe and has even garnered the attention of Tom Brady, the greatest quarterback in NFL history.
Brady, who was at the NHL's Winter Classic in Miami on Friday between the NY Rangers and Florida Panthers, was asked if he could sign one NHL player to his performance apparel company Nobull, who would it be?
"You know, I talked to this kid Matthew," Brady said on the Nobull Instagram account. "This young guy. He kind of has that eye of the tiger - that look I always had. Matthew Schaefer. You heard of him? That's who I want."
Even Tom Brady is on the Matthew Schaefer bandwagon.

Nobull, founded in 2014 by Marcus Wilson and Michael Schaeffer, merged with Brady's TB12 and Brady Brand in 2024, with Brady as the face of the company. You may have also seen Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, often wearing Nobull's apparel in his workout videos.
For a player of Brady's standing in the world of sports to say he sees a lot of him in Schaefer is music to Islanders' fans' ears.
With seven Super Bowl rings, more than any NFL franchise, Brady was known for his passion and for delivering in the big moments. Something we've seen in Schaefer through only 42 games of his rookie season.
Perhaps there's a collaboration between Schaefer and Nobull on the way, as the NHL, the Islanders, and everyone surrounding him should be putting their best foot forward to market this kid, as he'll bring nothing but positive things in the direction of the league and the franchise.
Regardless, it's pretty wild to hear Brady mention Schaefer by name.
