If you're looking for excitement, stress, or heart-stopping action, then NY Islanders hockey is the perfect thing for you. There have been plenty of nail-biters throughout the 2025-26 season that have gone past 60 minutes, with the Islanders coming out on top in each game that has ended in overtime.

Isles win their 10th straight in OT

Coming back from 3-0 down to the St. Louis Blues last night in Brayden Schenn's return to the area, the Islanders improved their OT record to 10-0 on the season. Mat Barzal was the OT hero, completing the comeback and keeping the Isles tied with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the standings for second place in the Metro Division. Their tenth straight OT win makes them the first team in NHL history to reach that mark.

Since returning to play from the Olympic break, the Islanders have won four games, all coming in the extra stanza.

For a team that has struggled at 3-on-3 in years past, they've completely flipped the script on everyone, becoming the last team in the league opponents want to see in an open ice scenario.

Of all the thrilling games this season, the most surprising was back in November when the Islanders made their annual trip to Las Vegas. A too many men on the ice penalty put the Islanders down a skater, hoping to survive two minutes at 4-on-3. JG Pageau won the ensuing face-off, playing the puck off the boards to himself, taking it down ice, and beating goaltender Akira Schmid from a tough angle.

While these OT thrillers have resulted in 20 points for the Islanders this season, they'd much rather take the regulation win. Finding themselves down early and having to fight back isn't an ideal scenario, but they've found their way out of it time after time.
