With six days remaining until the trade deadline, Mathieu Darche could be in the market to reward his players by adding a significant piece to the roster, likely a top-6 winger who can score.

Stefen Rosner of The Hockey News revealed yesterday that the NY Islanders have kicked the tires on Jordan Kyrou and Robert Thomas of the St. Louis Blues, as Doug Armstrong has made it public that the organization is open for business. But the prices on both are likely astronomical to start, but either could be acquired if Darche wanted to pull the trigger, given the current state of the prospect pool and first-round draft picks.

Could teh Islanders look to do more business with the Canucks?

The last blockbuster trade the Islanders made was with the Vancouver Canucks, in which they acquired Bo Horvat. Lou Lamoriello was at the helm at that time, but could Darche look to Vancouver to make another big-time move?

It feels like every year, Brock Boeser's name comes up in trade talks this time of year. The 29-year-old signed a seven-year extension with the Canucks in July worth $7.25M annually, but GM Patrik Allvin has made it known that he is willing to move just about anyone aside from tehir young core and Filip Hronek.

Boeser is having a down year by his standards, recording 12 goals and 14 assists through 51 games this season, but has been a goal-scoring threat throughout his career since finishing runner-up to Mat Barzal for the Calder Trophy in 2017-18. Just two seasons ago, Boeser finished with 40 goals, a feat that has only been accomplished once by an Islander since 2006-07 when Jason Blake reached the mark.

Boeser isn't at the level of Kyrou or Thomas, but he'd likely come at a cheaper cost, allowing Darche to hold onto most of the assets he's obtained in his nine months in charge. Boeser is controlled for six more seasons with a reasonable cap hit, certainly making him a potential option for the Islanders.
