We're four games into the 2024-25 season and NY Islanders have accumulated four points. While things may look bleak at the moment with the team being shutout in half of their games, it isn't time to jump ship and believe that this is going to be another season where the Islanders are stuck in limbo.

On the Islanders three game Western Conference road trip, they head back to Long Island taking three points. Looking at the opponenets they were up against, three points should be considered a solid trip this early into the season.

It's not time to panic

The defense has looked much better than it did throughout most of last season, with Ilya Sorokin looking much like his old self between the pipes. Starting the last two games for the Islanders, Sorokin has allowed three goals in total. Only one of those goals has been at 5v5, and has gone 121:59 without allowing a 5v5 goal.

Where the team is struggling right now is on the offensive end of the ice. But it's not time to panic. In two of their four games they've scored four and six goals, repsectively, showing that the fire power is there. None of the four forward lines played significant time together together last season, so there are still some growing pains they'll be dealing with.

As a team, the Islanders are shooting just 7.6%, ranked 29th in the league. According to Natural Stat Trick, the Islanders are fourth in the league in expected goals for perfectage (xGF%), at 56.44%, fourth best in the league.

As long as the effort remains consistent on the defensive end, the goals will come. This is the best forward group the Islanders have had in some time, but they'll just need some time to find the chemistry.
