One of the New York Islanders’ top prospects is making serious noise in the postseason—and Kashawn Aitcheson delivered another statement performance when it mattered most.

Aitcheson recorded three assists to power the Barrie Colts to a dramatic 4-3 overtime win over the Brantford Bulldogs in Game 6 on Saturday night, forcing a winner-take-all Game 7 with a trip to the OHL Finals on the line. In a game where Barrie was heavily outshot 57-28, Aitcheson’s fingerprints were all over the comeback effort.

The Islanders prospect now has two goals and six assists in six games in the series against Brantford, continuing what has been a dominant playoff run. Across 14 postseason contests, Aitcheson has totaled five goals and 16 assists, showcasing both his offensive instincts and ability to impact high-pressure moments.

Game 6 itself was a rollercoaster. After Brantford jumped out to a 3-1 lead, Barrie clawed its way back, fueled in part by Aitcheson’s relentless play. He helped spark the tying goal in the third period by forcing a turnover in the neutral zone, leading directly to the equalizer that sent the Sadlon Arena crowd into a frenzy.

Overtime only added to the drama. After a controversial waved-off goal by Brantford, Barrie seized its moment. Once again, it was Aitcheson creating chaos—throwing a puck toward the net that ultimately led to the game-winner, finished by Mason Zebeski.

While goaltender Ben Hrebik’s 54-save performance stole headlines, Aitcheson’s play-driving ability continues to stand out. He’s not just producing points—he’s dictating play in crucial situations.

With Game 7 looming, the spotlight will only grow brighter. And if this postseason is any indication, Aitcheson looks more than ready for it.
