After maintaining a playoff position for most of the season, the NY Islanders are now officially eliminated from postseason contention, entering their final game of the season on Tuesday with nothing to play for.

After last night's 4-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens, the final straw in what has been a collapse over the last month of the season, Peter DeBoer spoke about what he is hoping to see from the team on Tuesday night against the Carolina Hurricanes, which could involve seeing some new players in the lineup.

"I'll talk to Mathieu, and we'll come up with a plan," Darche said after last night's loss. "I'd like to see as many guys as possible. We took Palat out and put Duclair in. I wanted to give him an opportunity - I haven't seen him yet. I'll have to talk to Mathieu about rosters and things like that. For me, the more guys I can see in game action that are potentially part of this going forward, I think that's important.

Eklund, who made his debut with the Bridgeport Islanders two weeks ago, has played seven AHL games, scoring twice and adding seven assists. The 19-year-old Swedish winger has been incredibly impressive in his short time in North America. The 16th overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft is going to be a key part of this Islanders team in the future, possibly as early as next year.

Eiserman jumped to the professional ranks after Boston University lost its final game of the Conference tournament. Through nine games, he has scored twice and added two assists, showing off his patented one-timer on the power play on Saturday.

We could also see Adam Beckman make his Islanders debut. The 24-year-old was acquired by the Islanders last season from the NJ Devils in exchange for Dennis Chowlowski. He signed a one-year deal with the organization and is second in Bridgeport this season in points with 49, and leads the team in goals with 28. He's set to enter free agency at the end of the season and is a player the Islanders would likely hope to retain.
