Was the lighthouse jersey the right choice for the NY Islanders?

The New York Islanders had their alternate jersey fan vote, with fans debating which jersey would be better for the 2027-28 season.

The lighthouse jersey came out on top. The votes came down to the wire, but the lighthouse took the close victory. With voting closing at 5 pm, 51.8% were in favor of the lighthouse, and 48.% in favor of the ISLANDERS an hour before the polls closed.

Lighthouse

The lighthouse jersey has the lighthouse logo at the center with navy blue as the primary color. The bottom of the sweater displays two orange lines with a turquoise line in between. The sleeves consist of the same layout, with no shoulder logo. 

ISLANDERS

The Islanders jersey has the word ISLANDERS as its center logo with a cream background. The sweater itself is navy blue with three orange stripes - one above and below the ISLANDERS logo, and one at the bottom of the jersey. The cream is on the bottom of the uniform and the middle of the sleeves, with an orange stripe above and below it. This jersey has the NY as the shoulder logo. 

I voted for the ISLANDERS jersey. I think it was a better overall jersey than the lighthouse uniform and would’ve been the clear winner if the sweater were primarily cream. It has a shoulder logo and seems more creative compared to the lighthouse option. 

But the lighthouse logo is something that fans want. I think that uniform style forces it because, in my opinion, it’s too similar to the Islanders Reverse Retro uniform from a few years ago with the fisherman logo.

The fans got what they wanted. Everyone has wanted the lighthouse, and that is the alternate uniform the Islanders will be rocking in the 2027-28 season.
