Finland
Jesse Nurmi made the transition from the European game to North America this season, joining the London Knights of the OHL. The jump to the smaller ice hasn't been the easiest change for Nurmi who has 14 points (4 G, 10 A) in 24 games, but there's little doubt that he'll be on the Finnish roster in a few weeks. He impressed at the World Junior Summer Showcase, finishing as the top point producer with six in four games.
Sweden
The second Islanders goaltender selected in the 2024 NHL Draft has been extremely impressive this season playing in Sweden. Spending more time in the SHL, Sweden's top division, Marcus Gidlof has a 2.10 GAA and .915 SV% through seven games - among the best in the league.
Gidlof has also played seven games in the U-20 division, where he's won all seven games he's started, with a 1.43 GAA and .935 SV%. At 6'6" Gidlof has the size to become a star in the NHL and could be one of the breakout performers at this year's WJC.
