Michael Misa’s name has been on NHL teams' radar since 2022, when he was granted exceptional status by Hockey Canada, making him eligible to play in the OHL at 15 as the sixth player in league history to do so.

Finishing all three of his junior seasons over a point-per-game, Missa took his biggest step this season, finishing with 134 points (65 G, 62 A) in 65 games for the Saginaw Spirit.

Along with his offensive production, Misa has the size at 6’1” and 185 lbs to step into the NHL next season.

While a natural center, if the Islanders were to take the Oakville, ON, native, he could slide in on the wing, allowing him time to get acclimated with the speed and physicality of the NHL before moving back to the middle.

A selection of this magnitude for the Islanders is about much more than next season, as this is a player they hope can produce at a high level for the next decade. Of the three top players the Isles will likely consider, Michael Misa is the player who could makethe quickest impact for the franchise.
